About us
Keppers Design specializes in residential and small commercial projects.
Residential projects include traditional and contemporary designs at all levels, including remodels and luxury homes.
Commercial projects include multi-family housing, office buildouts, and code analysis.
The common thread is a crisp analysis of each project and the creation of effective and graceful design solutions. Big or small, simple or complex, each project lives by the slogan: “Design well. It doesn’t cost more to put the window (or bedroom, or door, etc.) in the right place.”
Jody Keppers
Jody Keppers, a registered architect in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, founded Keppers Design in 2008. Jody brings a client-focused, highly personalized and technically advanced design approach to residential and small commercial projects.
Jody's extensive experience has given him a deep understanding of the connection between good design, construction and final outcomes.
His first professional job included community-focused work such as housing rehabilitation, community clinics, and day care centers.
This was followed by sixteen years at a residential design-build firm that focused on high-end homes in Wayzata, Minnetonka, and surrounding areas as well as boutique commercial projects. Jody led in design, construction management, and office administration. Since the firm was a contractor as well as a design firm, he dealt with the details of finding and managing subcontractors; resolving construction issues; creating price proposals; and explaining changes to clients.

Jody gives back to his profession and community. He has designed several homes for Western Lake Superior Habitat for Humanity. Both the Arrowhead Builder's Association and the Builder's Association of Minnesota recognized him as their "Associate Member of the Year" in 2017. From 2007 to 2011, he served as a member of the Open Space Commission of Andover, Minnesota. Jody's visionary thinking while on the Commission helped the City of Andover make wise purchases that preserved undeveloped landfor future generations while enriching city growth and recreational opportunities. From 1990 to 1997, he was the layout editor for Preservation Matters, the newsletter of the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota.

Jody has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota Graduate School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts (magna cum laude, majors in Architecture and in History), and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

Jody grew up in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota. After living in the Twin Cities for a time, he returned to Duluth in 2011 with his wife and son.
